                                    WHAT IS WAP7 LOCOMOTIVE  WAP7 HOWRAH (E.R) History :-  W AP 7  is a  locomotive  developed by  Chittaranjan Locomotive Works  by modifying the  gear ratio  of existing  WAG 9  class. It is capable of hauling trains at speeds ranging between 110 to 140 kilometres per hour (68 to 87 mph) and is now largely used by Northern Railways  (NR),  South Central Railways  (SCR),  Southern Railways  (SR),  Eastern Railways  (ER),  South East Central Railway  (SECR),  Central Railways  (CR),  Western Railway  (WR),  West Central Railways  (WCR). As of August,2016 there are 288 locomotives in service. WHAT IS VCD

                    VCD (VIGILANCE CONTROL DEVICE) V igilance control device ( VCD ) is one of the most safety item for locomotive. You have to operate locomotive continuously by notch UP-DOWN or press vcd push button switch,pressing sanding foot switch while running, otherwise after 60 second VCD SYSTEM gives you a warnig by glowing vcd CAB UNIT warning light for 8 second if you don't acknowledge this by pressing vcd push button switch then after completing 8 second,vcd warning light glows with a buzzer sounding for 8 second, if you don't acknowledge this time too then penalty brake activated and notch will be regress autometically,BP(BRAKE PRESSUR) will drop and auto flasher glows and locomotive will stop running autometically. You have to reset this vcd system for running locomotive again,but remember you won't be able reset for 32 second. After 32 second you will be able to reset this. After reset BP will charged. WHAT IS SILICON RECTIFIER

                              SILICON RECTIFIER(RSI) What is Rectifier :- R ectifier is an electrical device which converts an alternating current( A.C ) into a direct current( D.C ) by allowing a current to flow through it in one direction only . What is Semi-conductor :- S emi-conductor is a substance under normal temperature which belongs in between conductor and insulator. Semi-conductor can make by silicon,germenium e.t.c . In WAP4 locomotive silicon make semi-conductors are used . Silicon Rectifier :- T here are BRIDGE RECTIFIERS are used in silicon rectifier(RSI) . That means four nos. of silicon make semi conductor DIODES are bridge connected. A full wave bridge rectifier circuit is here under ----- FULL WAVE BRIDGE RECTIFIER T here are four or seven parallal bridge rectifier in a RSI pannel. WHAT IS SMOOTHING REACTOR

                          SMOOTHING REACTOR(SL) In WAP4 locomotives "SL" are used to get fine DC voltage from SILICON RECTIFIRE(RSI). SL-30 type smmothing reactor rating-- 1250 V and 1350 A . In locomotives 2nos. of SL used for two nos. of BOGIES. Each SL has a motor(MVSL). Any how if high voltage comes and passes through SL circuit for that safety perpous 2nos. of relay provided namely QVSL. For control HVSL 1 and HVSL 2 switches are provided in switch board. Term 'H' indicates PROGRAM SWITCH . This HVSL switch has 4nos. of position, i.e '0','1','2','3' . Position no. '0' indiactes motor(MVSL) Is deactive, Position no. '1' indicates relay & motor both are working, Position no. '2' indicates only relay working, Position no. '3' indicates relay bipas . CIRCUIT DIAGRAM :-
